The Brooks'
Fred Brooks deserves the epithet of the founding patriarch of the Brooks Family Legacy at Crystal Lake. Carolyn Brooks equally deserves the epithet of the protector of the Brooks Family Legacy at Crystal Lake. Fred and Carolyn were devoted outdoor enthusiasts and quickly developed a strong attachment to Crystal Lake. Daniel Brooks (the current operator) was born the same year the Brooks’ purchased the resort in 1975 and was only a week old when he made
his first trip to the lake. His other siblings Karin (Boulter), Dallin, Spencer, and Nathan also grew up at Crystal Lake. Raised in this pristine environment, the Brooks Family has vowed to keep Crystal Lake a part of their lives, their children’s lives, and their grandchildren’s lives. Fred Brooks eagerly brought his extended family and close friends to share in the beauty of Crystal Lake. Though his accident in 1985 prevented him from operating the
resort, he still enjoyed his summers there with his family and friends. To maintain the Family Legacy at Crystal Lake, Fred gave the resort to his son Daniel in 1997. In 2003, Fred passed away, but not without one last trip to say goodbye to the lake which had sustained him throughout life. Daniel Brooks, now the inheritor of over 30 years of family attachment to Crystal Lake, has devoted his life to improving the resort and sharing it with everyone who appreciates such
a rich wilderness.
Fred Brooks is gone now and will be dearly missed, but his contribution will not be forgotten. He ensured his enduring legacy by handing the resort to his son Dan. Daniel Brooks is the second generation of the Brooks' to operate Crystal Lake Resort. Under the tutelage of his father, Dan has built up the resort into a viable family business and is expanding operations and facilities to make it a world class hunting and fishing resort. Dan and his wife Ellen
have 7 beautiful daughters, Mary (adopted - 1998), Felicia (1999), Alaura (2000), Kalissa (2002), Brielle (2004), Danae (2006), and Rachel (2007). They live full time at Greer Creek Ranch and spend their summers and fall at Crystal Lake. Their love of the outdoors will undoubted mean a third generation of Brooks' will one day continue this Brooks Family Legacy.
